GREAT AND SMALL IS PROUD TO INTRODUCE "BARN TIME" AS PART OF OUR PROGRAM

The Great and Small Barn Time program is as unique as each child participating.  By creating circles of communication between the student and the instructors, and the student and the horse, we try to draw them into a larger world of sensory stimulation and socialization. Not all students are immediately ready to ride.  Focusing on what each child is interested in, and expanding on that, we lead them to toward the world as seen, and felt, from the back of a horse.  Ours is truly an holistic approach to dealing with our students.

                                            Barn Time Principles:
                                            • Respect each child's uniqueness
                                            • Foster relationships between the child, the staff
                                                         and the horse
                                            • Promote each child's healthy development
                                            Goals of Barn Time:
                                            • Attention and engagement
                                            • Communication
                                            • Problem-solving Skills
                                            • Relationships
                                            • Initiative

                                            The physical activity involved improves:
                                            Balance and coordination
                                            Core body strength
                                            Rhythm and timing
                                            Visual-spatial processing

                                            Picture
